How important us class rank to colleges?

My current rank is 2 out 214 in a competitive school in NY.

This may not help, but it depends on the college. Some college place more weight on rank while other schools may not even consider it.

Thanks! And that did help!

On a scale of 1 to Ra, it’s like a Thoth.

As long as you are in the top five or ten percent you are good to go for basically every school…

^ False.

10char

Why did you lololol when I said I applied to three schools? I got into one of them already.

“As long as you are in the top five or ten percent you are good to go for basically every school…”

At very selective schools not even valedictorians are guaranteed, but if someone in the top 5% gets rejected it probably won’t be because of class rank, if that’s what you mean.

What if your school doesn’t use class rank? Mine doesn’t rank kids, maybe because the GPA differences are negligible (or none). How will colleges see that?

“How will colleges see that?”

Obviously they can’t penalize you for a school policy. It’ll just be one less thing helping you.

Each college is different and has different criteria and weighs for criteria. One college might rank class rank or GPA and SAT scores heavily while another might rank a combination of your interview, recommendation letters, and GPA.
