How intense should my senior year schedule be?

Scheduling is in a few weeks, but I'm still not sure as to what classes I should be taking my senior year. My top choice is Princeton (I'm not sure how realistic that is, but I'm trying anyways) so I want to have a pretty competitive course load.

Seniors at my school have the opportunity to take Senior Seminar, which is AP Literature and AP US Government combined, or Super Senior Seminar, which is AP Literature, AP US Government, and AP Comparative Government combined. In Super Seminar, the first semester is spent on US gov and the second is spent on comparative. Because there is more material covered during the year, the topics are not as thoroughly analyzed, but the pace is faster and there is more homework assigned. I prefer the fact that analytical skills are not as utilized and would love to learn comparative gov, but I am not sure if I can afford to take another AP course.

Other than that, my courses next year will probably be similar to this:
Art 4 (this class is just free studio time to work on projects for AP Art)
AP Art Studio
AP Biology
AP Literature
AP US Gov (and AP Comparative ?)
Multivariable Calculus/ Matrix Algebra (a post-AP course)
Spanish 5

My schedule this year is slightly lower in intensity (I am taking four APs: Calculus BC, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Language and Composition) and I am pretty capable of handling the work. However, I would like to have a slightly more calm and fun senior year. Thoughts?

“Super Senior Seminar”

I like how they added the word “Super” to it. Like, what up wit dat bro? Is dey be fo’ real?

I assume you’re one of those people who’s smart and just wants to take a bunch of hard classes to go to a good college, with no particular direction in mind yet, right? If so I might recommend AP Physics instead of one of those classes (whichever you care least about), unless you’ve already taken Physics.

Beyond that, I don’t know how hard all of those classes are, but altogether that schedule seems harder than your current one.

Go hard. Always.

Actually, at this point you’re only taking APs for the college credit and/or because it’s the next logical advancement in that subject. So if you don’t think you’ll be getting college credit, and if you’re not that interested in the subject to begin with, don’t bother taking it just for the sake of having a harder schedule.

You’ve got a rather impressive schedule as it is anyway. If I were to choose, I’d go with just Senior Seminar. Comp. Gov. is sort of considered a “lower” AP anyway, and you’d be better off using that time to focus on other, more impacting, exams.

Princeton is a crapshoot for everyone. I think you’re about as good on paper as it gets, but just keep it in mind.

@QwertyKey: Haha yeah. The Super Seminar teachers call it the “Trifecta”. I’m actually planning on majoring in chem while working on premed. I’m taking AP Chemistry this year and unfortunately, there are no related courses offered at my school. I am taking Physics 1 this year as well. The concepts are a little difficult for me, and the AP Physics courses are some of the most difficult available at my school.

@AeroEngineer3141: I’m trying to get college credit in all but Studio, probably. However, Art 3 and Studio will be the only classes keeping me sane next year, so I don’t think I’ll drop them. The AP exams aren’t very worrisome, so if I take comparative and end up taking 4 exams instead of 3, it won’t be a big deal. And thank you.

Is the Calc 3/Lin Alg. at your high school or local college?

If you can take classes at a local college I would drop something there (if you really want to keep Art I would drop Lit or Spanish) and take Orgo instead.

Mutlivar/alg is offered at my hs. I would rather take something else, but by the end of this year I will have finished all of the math courses available.

I would like to take Orgo, but I enjoy Spanish, and I don’t know if dropping it would be the best idea. I would love to drop Lit, but I’ve always taken the highest level English offered, and it might not be the best plan to start taking regular my final year of hs.
I was thinking of maybe taking a chemistry class over the summer at a local college though, if I don’t get an internship at NIH.
