How is a job viewed in college admissions?

I have a job that I work 20-25 hours a week during school and 40 hours a week during the summer. When all of these crazy ad coms are looking at my application, how will they view this? Will it be seen as an edge in college admissions or a detriment?

I think that jobs definitely count for something, but colleges don't put enough emphasis on them.

Will it basically be just another extracurricular?

Depends on the college
Depends on the adcom who reads your application
Depends on the job itself
Depends on why you have the job
Depends on what you say about the job in your applicatioihn
Depends on any number of other variables

Stop worrying about this because you have little or no control over all of these things.

It can count as an EC, especially if you're helping to support your family. Depending on the nature of your job, it could also show your passion for something. For example, I work at Orchestra Hall despite traveling a looong distance for it, and I think it helped show my passion for music.
