how is ap us gov graded

what is the break down [how many pts per essay] how much essays are worth...and all the multiple choice stuff..so i can hypothetically calculate my score ?!

I'm pretty sure each essay is worth a maximum of 15 points, and there are four essays for a grand Free Response total of 60 points. The Multiple Choice is equally weighted, so the 45 questions also constitute 60 points. For a 5 on the exam, you need at least (roughly) 90 out of a possible 120 points.

are u sure its out of 15 . i dont think it is

Hm... yeah, you're right, it's not out of 15 for each FRQ, and each FRQ has a different number of possible points.

Well, all I know is that once the scores are scaled, you need around a 75% for a 5, so you can get a feel from that. Haha, sorry I'm not of much help. Good luck, though!

The FRQ's are usually graded out of 5-8 points and then multiplied by a factor to get it to 15 points each.

I finally found the scoring for Gov in general...it'll be around:

Composite Score / AP Grade

88 - 120 / 5

74 - 87 / 4

54 - 73 / 3

35 - 53 / 2

0 - 34 / 1

60 MC, 60 FR.

Are the essays graded like bio essays? (list if things to be scored and things can't take grade away)

My teacher said that as long as you put enough to cover what they ask for, they aren't going to take stuff away if it's wrong.

However, when I was looking over the scoring guidelines from last year, the graders were instructed to not give credit to a student who said that the House approved appointees... so I suppose that there are some things that they will penalize you for. It just depends.

From what I've seen of scoring guidelines, though, those types of things are few and far between, so don't worry!

well yeah, they won't give credit for saying that the House confirms appointees because that's not true, but they won't penalize you (they won't subtract points) for saying it. I think for the exam today each free response question was worth 6 points, and that will be scaled up to 15 with a multiplier.

essays are on a scale of 1 to 9 i think. then they multiple your score by some number and rescale it to 15
