How is Brandeis' reputation in Boston/East Coast area?

I know there are great colleges like Harvard, MIT, Tufts in Boston. How is Brandeis in Boston? Is it right after Harvard,MIT, and Tufts?

Brandeis is a very nice school. It is a top semi-LAC with great academics. I would personally rank it around the same as Tufts.

It is a very good Jewish college.

You don’t have to be Jewish to attend. Approximately 50% of the students are not Jewish.

Informative, Brandeis is a very good college, period.

I would thing the reputation of Brandeis in the greater Boston area would be that it is a very good school, a notch or so below Tufts, more in line with Boston College, BU, Northeastern, Holy Cross. A lot of folks would characterize the school the way @informative did, as a Jewish school, in the same way that folks would call Boston College and Holy Cross Catholic schools, although the percentage of Catholic students at BC and HC is higher than the percentage of jewish students at Brandeis.

Brandeis is a secular school while BC and HC are Catholic denominational schools. A big difference.

It’s easily the best in the area along with Holy Cross based on observations I’ve made and admissions decisions I’ve received.

I agree with you @TomSrOfBoston‌ and what you say is the reality, although I think many people, wrongly, have a different impression.

Academic reputation comparable to Tufts and Holy Cross line-below Harvard, MIT and Wellesley.
