How is Brown in Economics, Political Science and International Relations?

Currently, I have my mind set on double majoring in Economics and Poli Sci, which is why I really like U Chicago, but Chicago’s core curriculum really bothers me. So how does Brown compare?

Brown doesn’t have a core so that’s pretty awesome. I want to major at IR at Brown and when I was there, a girl told me that all of the IR majors are pretty close as a group and that it’s the biggest (as far as number of requirements) concentration at Brown. She also said that a lot of people like it because IR majors often go aboard at least two times at their time at Brown for their concentration

@marilo12 Yea I know about Brown’s open curriculum; it’s one of the main reasons I’m so attracted to the school. I’m a very independent student and I don’t like being told what classes to take.

Economics and poli sci are two of Brown’s strongest departments.

@fireandrain‌ Do you know how they stack up against other top schools?

No, because I think that’s a really silly game to play. These are strong departments with good professors, and the graduates go on to get good jobs and accepted into top grad schools. Really, what else do you need to know?
