I am a high school senior applying to this school, and I was wondering how the environment is here. I live in California in the Silicon Valley and to be honest, life moves fast here. Everyone busy and it seems like no one is relaxed. This is even true in school -- people are so busy trying to win competitions and get the highest grades. At times it feels that everyone around you is trying to win at something. I lived in Ohio for a couple years when I was around 4 years old. I visited a few times (i lived in cuyahoga falls near akron so I only visited this part of Ohio) and I found this area to be more calm, relaxing, and slow. I prefer living the "Akron" life instead; i dont like the tremendous competition I experienced in the silicon valley. I know that Case Western is a small school, so i would assume that it is also a bit on the quiet side and more "gentle". For example schools like ASU, USC, OSU, etc are quite big and know for their football, spirit, parties, sports, etc. I honestly wouldn't belong in those sort of schools. Im not really a party person. I have friends, but we are more mellow and calm, not really the high-spirited type. I know Case is a rigorous school and will be pretty competitive, but can you please give me advice on how the general atmosphere at Case is? (Is it calm and relaxing or does everyone seem rushed, busy, high spirited, or over-competitive?)

I have found it to be cooperative rather than competitive.

@bopper ok thanks! are the people there really loud and do they seem very spirited?

depends on your major- engineers are cooperative while many premeds are more competitive since grades are so important

True, I was speaking for Engineers. Premeds are competitive everywhere, of course.
Case is a smaller school and is not going to be as rah-rah as other schools. They do have Division 3 sports including football.

If this is your idea of a good cheer, then they are quite spirited!
