How is it possible to have an above 4.0 GPA at Berkeley?

Is there such a thing? I was just accepted.

I don’t think there are weighted classes in college

At least in EECS, the highest letter grade is A+, translated to 4.0, same as A.

For Berkeley GPA purposes, A+ grades are the same as A grades = 4.0. Other +/- are +0.3/-0.3.

However, law schools recalculate college GPAs for admission purposes, giving A+ a 4.33, with all +/- being +0.33/-0.33. So Berkeley undergraduates who are applicants to law schools can report different college GPA for that purpose than what Berkeley reports for them.
