I live in IL and I'm choosing between UIUC and UChicago. Obviously UChicago has outstanding political science and economics programs, but it will also run me into a huge debt. Are those debts worth it, or should I go to UIUC for practically nothing?

It depends on what you want to do. An Economics degree from UChicago is one of the most marketable degrees you can have, but then again, a $100k+ debt makes it a hard choice. How are you going to be dealing with the debt (eg parents, loans, etc), and what do you plan to do with said degree?

I was planning on going to law school for the sole purpose of paying off debt, but that would run me deeper into debt. My parents are still paying a large portion though, and I'll probably get a job. I wouldn't have to do any of that if I just went to UIUC though.

If you are going to Law School, just get a good GPA and ace the LSAT. UIUC would be great for that. I don't think that U Chicago is worth the extra $100k or more just for an undergrad degree if you plan on contiuning your education.

I just don't want money to hold me back from getting the best education I can.

Thank you for your answers by the way.
