Hm, here are my stats for the people who wanted to know about likely letters:

SAT: 1580
SATII: 800, 790, 780
rank: 2/ 168
GPA: 5.1? i think
AP: calc ab, euro, comp sci a, comp sci ab, physics b = all 5's

This year I'm taking 5 additional AP courses.
I do three varsity sports, lots of clubs, National Merit Finalist, AP Scholar with Distinction, etc. And I think that's about it....

I'm not sure why they sent them, especially so close to the deadline. I probably mailed my app. about a day before the November deadline.

And yes, I applied for the Braddock scholarship, but they haven't said anything about it yet.

I'm not a shc student yet anyway... I'm still in hs, but am taking an honors math course this year (a fair amount of ppl leave our hs during the day to take psu classes, since campus is only 5 min away). so I'm waiting just like everyone else for the letter. from the people I know who are in shc now, it seems as if your daughter would have a very good chance of getting in. I do know that they put a lot of emphasis on the essays and look for ppl w/ unique interests. being undecided for a major I don't think should hurt-- a lot of people don't have anything down when they apply.

astrophysicist2b: I just assumed that you were already a PSU/SHC student based on the information that you presented. Its obvious that you are very close to the situation there in more ways than one.

WillowELN: Thanks for the stats update. At least based on your background, its obvious that they wanted to assure the absolute top candidates that they would be getting accepted to SHC. Congratulations on achieving some extremely impressive accomplishments.

Good luck to both of you and to all that are waiting for official acceptance letters this week.

Nothing came in the mail today. Unless some students out there have received actual acceptance letters, I am assuming that they are going to hold true to the published information and send out letters on Feb.19th. Unfortunately, Monday the 21st is Presidents Day, and there is no mail delivered that day!

If anyone gets an official acceptance letter from SHC, please post to let us know.

congrats! interesting that I live in the town that they sent them out of and haven't received mine yet. go usps. hopefully I'll be able to say the same tomorrow.

Well, looks like the Feb. 19th assumption was wrong. Congrats, MaryMary! Hopefully, we will see something in the mail tomorrow. Perhaps they are rolling out the letters over the next few days until all of the pre-Nov.30 applicants are taken care of.

My son got his letter today (we're in the Pittsburgh area). He didn't get in. :-( "The Committee has received an enormous number of applications, most of them of extremely high quality. We are therefore obliged to make many difficult decisions in selecting our incoming group of only 300 Schreyer Scholars."

congratulations everyone. are you all going to go to one of the open houses? I think I will be going to the one following the College of Science Open House.
