I am thinking about applying to Lafayette but would like to know how the Biology and pre-med track is.

Hi spmanbearpig,

I am a rising sophomore and premed neuroscience major at Lafayette.

Lafayette is strong in the sciences, including biology. All of the professors I have had within the bio department have been of high quality. They also have a wide variety of course options.

As for the “pre-med track,” that simply refers to the list of courses that a studen must take as a prerequisite for medical school. 1 year of bio with lab, 1 year of gen chem with lab, 1 year of organic chem with lab, 1 year of physics with lab, 1 semester or year of calculus, and a semester of English. Lafayette has those courses, as do most other colleges. The premed “track” is essentially the same everywhere.

However, Lafayette has a very helpful Health Professions Program that consists of faculty who are highly knowledgable about medical school admissions. They have provided me with excellent guidance thus far. That being said, Lafayette is definitely a good place to be a pre-med.

Hope that helps.

thank you so much that assurance, along with a future campus visit will result in me most likely applying :)
