Hi,

I am a prospective East Asian Studies major (that or Chinese Language), and I want to know more about Stanford's department in that regard.

1) Is the East Asian Studies major popular?
2) How many students are majoring in EAS for their undergraduate degree?
3) (not related to this field) What are the pros and cons of this university?

I understand that there are many pros and cons threads on CC already. HOWEVER, I desire information from current students because I want to know how Stanford is now, not years ago.

Here are some rumors I've heard already:

Stanford's meal plan is incredibly expensive, and it's mandatory (~$5000 a year?)

Palo Alto is a neighborhood too expensive for Stanford students

There's not much integration among ethnicities, and the culturally themed dorms / apartments don't help the cause.

Thank you so much for reading!
