I am planning a visit to the Ole Miss campus during the summer to look around Oxford & Ole Miss & hopefully get to meet some of the history faculty. Can someone tell me what the vibe is during the summer? Is there a significant number of students taking summer courses? Is Oxford “alive” during the summer? Weather? I’m looking to visit late May or early June.
Guess we’ll find out. D starts summer school late May.
From what I recall, school is more laidback in the summer, but there will be orientation sessions going on along with summer school. Not sure about Oxford itself. Late May or early June, weather is usually pretty warm but can be nice. July, August is hot with high humidity.
Thanks. Sounds like the weather from my hometown. July & August & really ugly, hot & high humidity. Oh well.
Our son and I will probably be visiting in early July. I’m sure it will be hot and humid, but probably not much worse than DC.
I’m from South Texas so I guess it will be business as usual.
Not quite as bad as Houston/Beaumont in the summer time. Shade helps.
Thanks DiffMom, I’m VERY much looking forward to going & visiting. The faculty have been so good at writing back. I have one professor already wanting to sit down & have coffee & a couple others wanting to talk about primary source material (I’m a history major). I will definitely be applying to grad school here.
