How is their film program?

Hey CC posters. I'm in the midst of my college search as a high school Junior.
I really like the looks of CMU, but how is their film program? I'm split between computer engineering type stuff and film production, but currently leaning more towards the latter. I need to find someplace where I've got a lot of options- freedom to figure out which direction I want to go without being locked on to one major or the other freshman year.

That being said, I know CMU is great computer engineering-wise, but how about film? I know colleges like UC Berkley and Umich have "film programs" that are really 90% study and 10% application. This is NOT for me, I'd really like someplace where we actually produce things as students.

My academics are not as chock-full of APs and extra-curriculars as a lot of the people posing their "what are my chances" threads here, and my unweighted GPA is ~3.7. I think my chances are pretty good though, because my high school, OHS, has some prestige (within top 2% in nation, high graduation rate, 45% students involved in AP classes).

CMU doesn’t really have a film program. I’m a current freshman applicant and I’m also going into film. My top choices are USC and NYU’s film schools but I like CMU too. I applied to H&SS for Creative Writing and if I end up going there I plan on minoring in Film (they do have that). I’d imagine it’s mostly study though and not that much application.

Yeah, dream’s correct. The closest you’re going to get would be screenwriting or directing, with a minor in film.

I think University of Pittsburgh has a good film program
