How Liberal?

Is Brown really one of the most liberal schools in the country?

There was a great thread on liberalism at Brown recently. Please take a search for that. In there we describe in what sense "liberal" means when it's applied towards Brown. What definition of liberal are you using to ask? Politically? Policy wise towards students? What concerns or excites you about a liberal university? I can be more helpful with the answers to some of these questions.

i think it depends also how liberal you want to be. yes, i like being surrounded by a majority of like-minded democrats. but no, i don't participate in the rallies and protests every now and then on campus (which i'm sure happen on every campus anyway). it's all relative to how liberal you make it... i wouldn't call brown "liberal" as much as i would call it active in the sense of extreme "activism" for issues

the o.c. certainly makes brown seems like one of the most liberal schools in the country...in truth, it's not that bad.
being from LA, you should know that one of your congressman--a fairly conservative guy--is a brown alum. there are all types.
