I've heard everyone telling me about "make sure your essays are good." On average, what essay are they talking about ('cause sometimes colleges have different ones) and how long are they on average?

about 500 words; they can be shorter or longer but I’d really advise against having more than 750 words; that’s when the admissions committee starts getting bored with your essay. Mine was 650 words, fyi.

There’s nothing wrong with a long essay but only, only if it’s ABSOLUTELY necessary.

The ADCOMS need their attention to be completely and absolutely locked onto the page for whatever duration of time you choose–they WILL read the essay, all of it, whether it’s long OR short…however, if it’s needlessly long, they’ll be bored, and the essay will serve detrimentally.

it depends on the school. It tells you how much is needed on the instruction sheet. Usually 500-1500 words
