How long are most people's commonapp essays?

<p>You can’t provide much insight or depth in less than 500 words, and even the most exciting essay can get tedious after 900-1000 words. So I would say between 750 and 800 is perfect.</p>

<p>I feel like it’s less about the length and more about the content. If you need 3,000 words to answer one of the prompts, are you really expressing yourself that clearly?</p>

<p>Mine has 1400 words but it is structured very ingeniously and there are various voices in it. Plus, the third page (out of three pages), is a poem I wrote. So it is actually only two pages of prose. I don’t think admissions officers will be bored with it because once they finish a paragraph, the next one is very different and it makes you curious. At least I hope it does.</p>
