Hi, does anyone know exactly how long it takes for SAT scores to be sent from Collegeboard to colleges? Or based on previous experiences? They're usually electronic, so I'm thinking it shouldn't take that long? I can't get an accurate number out of collegeboard when I call them, because they say "1-2 weeks", and there must be an influx of requests right after scores come out.

I took the October SAT II, but I want to see what scores I got first, which come out on October 24, and then send them. If I'm applying Early Action and the deadline is November 1, would it be possible for a regular, $11.25 report, to get there on time/before that deadline? I heard from many colleges that they discourage rush reporting (2 business days) because it costs a lot and is not much faster than regular reports. Would it really be worth it to use rush reporting?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I’m in the same boat.

Just googled it, and read “scores are delivered approximately five weeks after we receive their request”.

That…can’t possibly be right, can it?

Most scores ACT and SAT say 1-2 weeks?

Just do a rush report , just to be safe… atleast for the EA schools.

Where did you see that? The College Board website says 1 to 2 weeks using regular delivery.

I doubt if anyone at the College Board will tell you exactly how long it takes to send scores. It should realistically take very little time since it’s done electronically, but the College Board makes money off of fretful students who are worried that if they wait to see the scores before requesting that they be sent, a deadline will be missed. As I mentioned in another thread, the College Board has quite a racket going.

The last order of SAT score a couple weeks ago took 3 business day to change from pending to sent at Collegeboard. Then it took another 2-3 business to download and enter into the school’s tracking database. So 1-2 weeks sound about right. However, it is going to be the prime time within the next few weeks that it may take a bit longer. Most schools would suggest you to send 2-4 weeks before deadline. There are rush score report service available at additional cost, however, one should really avoid that as many school do not accept rush score. Some school said it may take even longer for them to handle rush score and enter into their system.

I decided not to take the risk and to use Rush Reporting. My colleges accepted it within a day of me sending it. Thanks for everyone’s help! :)

I always wonder they intentionally delayed the score sending process so you need to pay extra for a rush service. ;)
