How long does it take for universities to process mail? I had sent something via USPS and had it tracked and it said it had been delivered on Saturday. Obviously, universities aren’t open on the weekend and yesterday was President’s Day so they didn’t see it then. However, I called today and they said they haven’t received it yet even though the tracking said it was Delivered!!! Anyone have any idea how these things work, should I check again tomorrow or at the end of the week? thanks
Is there a portal you can check so you don’t have to constantly call? Give it a couple days and call at the end of the week. Depending on where the university is, they may be struggling underneath snow.
@TheDidactic Yes there is a portal that’s where I checked first and when I noticed it wasn’t there I called! It says it takes 10 days for the portal to be updated but I wanted to make sure they at least got it. Thanks, I’ll definitely wait till the end of the week to call back!
As in any large organization, there is likely a central processing mailroom that receives and processes all mail for delivery to the appropriate departments/individuals. It is quite likely that your mail arrived in the mailroom, but hasn’t made it to the admissions office yet. Just relax.
We don’t know which university, but several in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and New England regions were closed on Tuesday (and perhaps even today), due to Winter storms . . . additional days on-campus, awaiting department delivery.
