They'll probably be in the collegeboard data base for a good 20/25 years but as far as usefulness goes, I don't think you'll need them again that far into the future.

The simple answer is until the recalibrate the test again.

I've heard from different counselors and various online sources that say the scores are valid for 5 years.

I can't find an official CB statement though, so take it with some caution.

A friend of my moms went back to grad school, college board still had them she went to college in the early 80's. So over 25 years at least.

anybody else? where can i find a formal statement about this?

According to http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/scores/sending/old.html , CB still keeps scores from 1975 and earlier. So that's at least 32 years.

If I were to take the SAT in 11th grade, would that score be valid for my 12th grade college admissions? Essentially, how long is the validity of my SAT scores for admissions?

Yes, it would be.

Yes, you’re fine. I’m applying to college with sophomore SAT scores. I emailed a couple colleges before I took it and they said that it was fine.
