So, I know that the 1000 word limit is given, but I just can't seem to add anything to some of my essays that are about 600 words. Should I still push for closer to 1000? And does anyone know how long the average applicant's essays are? Thank you!

I really don’t think there is a definite answer for this. However, write as much as you can without sounding discursive. It is definitely quality over quantity, but if you can do both then that’s even better. For example, I had some that are 600 to 900 words. I was concise yet I made sure the style, grammar, and composition was that of a book.

Most of mine are well over 900 words… but I tend to do that often.

Some may answer it in 200-300 words, others 700-900. It all depends on if you have answered the prompt thoroughly or not.

I always scringe when I hear people finishing these under 500 words (1 page). The more you write, the more you diverge from the many generic essays that they’ve read. Idk if you done that but skilled writers can definitely pull it off. ;D
