My transfer essay requires 250 words minimum. My essay has at least 700 words. Is that too long, or is it normal?? Do colleges have any maximum requirements for essay lengths?

That’s ok as long as it flows and easy to read. I’d say going over 900 is long.
If they did have a word-count limit they would have specify that.

Thank you.

as long as you don’t have anything unnecessary you should be ok. mine was around 1200 words, but i tried to condense it as much as possible.

Well, my story is pretty weird and since the essay is the only place where I can really explain what happened with my life, the essay is pretty long. I finished my essay and it has 1300 words. Guess I have given detailed descriptions about why I want to transfer. Is that okay or should I edit it out?

my only advice would be to have someone objective read it and decided if its just right or overly detailed…

I guess I should ask someone from CC to read it for me. But I don wanna risk my essay getting ripped (not that it’s worth getting ripped anyways, but you never know)

haha, true…i guess that’s always a concern. But there are lots of ppl who ask CCers through message/email if they have already gotten accepted or sent in ALL applications…
I’m sure you could look into that if you’re interested.

Yeah I have been looking around and have sent my essays to a few ppl. Awaiting nail biting
