For the five colleges I have applied to, my second teacher has not started her common app recommendation. The deadline for most of them was 1/01 (yesterday). I am on winter break until 1/10. I have emailed the teacher a few times, but she has not responded. I told her about the recommendation about 3 weeks ago and reminded her several times. She is my homeroom teacher, likes me, and definitely seemed like she wanted to do it. Is it okay if she turns it in next week, after I talk to her about it (so probably around 1/11)? The colleges were mostly Ivy Leagues.

Sure, that is no problem. Your deadlines are only for YOUR material (App, Supp, Payment). School officials have no deadline at all. However, it should still be submitted ASAP.

Alright, hopefully it wont affect my decisions. Thanks

I’d say she needs to get it in by the first weekend after you go back to school.

Will colleges tell you if they are missing items not under your control?

^Wouldn’t you already know what you’ve submitted and what you haven’t?

Anyway, I’m in the exact same situation, although my app is due today. Before the break, my teacher told me to e-mail her all her stuff and that she could write the rec starting January 1, and I did so, but somehow she’s not getting the e-mails and I can’t get in touch with her. School starts on January 10, so I’m wondering if one week is “shortly after the deadline” as UNC said.

^ I am in the same situation as above Dx I am getting back on the 9th as well
Hopefully, the 9th- sometime the following week is not too late Dx

No, it won’t be, guys. You get your decisions in late March/early April…it’s the beginning of January. Just get it in when you can and stop fretting.
