How Long Should Recs Be? I obvioulsy know that quality is more important than quantity, but what is a perfect length of a reccomendation?

considering students don't write recs, i don't think you are going to get many responses... it's out of your hands so why does it matter?

we get to see them after they have been written

you get to see them> that is quite unusual and suprising

because that makes them basically meaningless if you get to complain about them

do you get to see them after written or after mailed

if I was a college admin person and knew that kids got to comment on their recs, I would toss the recs as being pointless, and if kids got to see them, I would question the honesty, especially if they are the GC ones

after they have been mailed

Definitely no more than 3 pages...little more than half a page seems good. On some colleges' websites they say, keep the letter short and sweet and pay special attention to the beginning and the ending. Remember...it's like an extra essay for the adcoms to read.

My teacher told us the recommendations she writes are usually around one page, single spaced.

so if they are bad, what do you do? or are they always swell because a student and their parents get to see them

either way, they arent valuable as they might be if you never saw them
