500 words? 1000 words?

enough to get ur message across

mine was about 900 words (just over a page)

mine was about 750 words. One page

mine was around 600 and i thought it was fine.
I didn’t realize that the max was 1000 until I submitted it so… oh well.

minimum 250 right? the shorter the better, but 500~600 seems optimal.
yet… it’s not the end of the world if it’s long…

One of my essays is around 900, my other one is around 500 words. It doesn’t really matter, does it? As long as the message’s clear.

there is no maximum. write an essay as long as it needs to be and no longer. in my case, my commonapp essay was about 1700 words, and i’m in to at least one great school already.

1700? WOW! That’s huge!

mine is like…1100. Is it okay?

you kind of don’t wanna make the adcoms sick of reading your application that’s all.
the reason making the essays short is that long essays might make them sick of reading your essays.
But again, if the essay captures so much interest that they can’t ever forget, then go ahead and reach 1000+ words…
