Hi everyone,
I’ve seen several posts about this but I was wondering how long the Harvard Supplement should be? I have 500 words so far about my travel experience but I fear that if I write any more it might just come off as fluff.
I’ve seen posts where people write 700-1000 words but I feel that any more words for mine would come off ingenuine and kind of like a ramble.
Should I force myself to write a little more or just leave it at 500 words?
Thanks!
I would keep it under 650 words; your 500 is good.
Mine was 1100 words so maybe that range
This is past the deadline, but for anyone in the future—just write concisely what you want to tell the AO about yourself in the supplement. Just keep it genuine, that’s all you’ll ever need. My supplement was only around 300-400 words (worked fine apparently)
Mine was around 650 and I got in.
As you can see from the other responses, the word count doesn’t matter. What matters is you get your point across with however many words you need. When rereading it, make sure it doesn’t feel short or long; don’t leave them hanging and don’t bore them.
Mine was 750 and I got in.
