Hi @user251567, still no news yet here either. @VickiSoCal, did they give any indication at the info session about gating in terms of how long of a delay? Also, is the gating for all departments or just IR? I can’t imagine that they won’t still try to get back to international applicants as quickly as possible rather than announce decisions on the UK schedule. Although, it has been a while since anyone here on CC has announced an acceptance…
Good luck everyone! Let us know if you hear anything this upcoming week!
There were 8 international students visiting that day and other than mine, all were ir or history so they kind of focused on that.
@VickiSoCal- did you have a favorite Uni or program? Just curious about your impressions—
We visited St Andrews, Durham and Edinburgh.
Durham was her favorite. They scheduled a private meeting and tour for her and really personalized the experience. The person she met with even flooded up with an email. U of Edinburgh was very spread out and felt inpersonable as far as student/university life but the city is amazing… St. Andrews was nice but just didn’t present itself as well. It’s also a smaller and more isolated town. At Durham she has already identified where she might be able to work off campus.
Still a lot of US and UK schools to hear from and a lot of time to think.
I just looked at the St. Andrews website and they removed the section about applications being completed by the third week of November and replaced it with a statement about doing rolling admissions for international applicants. Not sure what that means. @MANVMom2016
From another thread, they are swamped with IR apps and decisions may not be out until January.
How did they know this @collegemom3717 ?
this is not entirely a new things @jupiter98 said last year St. Andrews was the very last one their kid heard from:
“This language was there last year, too. DC submitted her app in the middle of September. We still had to wait till late March (I think). Her offer was unconditional, so she was not on the bubble. Don’t worry if you don’t hear back soon.”
@user251567, @brismith215 posted “Hello! Beth Shotton, Director of International Admissions at St. Andrews went to my high school and told me International Relations decisions, because of such a large applicant pool this year, will not be announced until early January. Very disappointing, I know.” on the St Andrews in Scotland Acceptance/Rejection Class of 2021 thread.
Yes, @user251567 , I saw that as well. I thought that perhaps I was looking at the wrong page. This is what it says now:
"We make decisions on international applications on a rolling basis.
If you are an International applicant who applied through a direct application or the Common Application, you will receive a response to your application by email. This email will outline your offer and conditions from the International Undergraduate team. You should respond to your offer by replying directly to this email, indicating whether or not you will be taking up your place.
If you have any questions relating to your offer, please email the international undergraduate team (myapplication@st-andrews.ac.uk) who will be happy to help you. We recommend that you reply to your offer by 31 May."
