how long will it take to graduate as an engineer (transfer student)

i’ll be going to community college first before transferring to a university. initially, i thought i could do it in 2 years before transferring to a 4 year college but i just met up with a counselor and she said that 2 years may be a bit idealistic especially when you’re set to pursue an engineering major (i chose environmental engineering). she said it may take 3 years in CC. assuming everything as in everything goes well, will i start off as a junior in a university - complete my last 2 years - meaning 5 years in total?

or is it possible that if i work hard enough, i can complete it in 4 years time? CC will definitely help me regarding financial concerns so i hope to lessen the number of years as to also lessen expenses. my grades in high school weren’t the absolute best and there were definitely a lot of other people smarter than me but i think i still did pretty well with a 3.7 GPA. i really do plan on working extremely hard in college

thank you
