How long does Stanford spend on each application during REA?

As with any college, depends on how good your application is.

So do they automatically reject a bunch of them and keep the more interesting ones for further consideration?

I kind of want to become an admissions officer for a year or two just to find out the inner workings of the admissions process.

The destiny of liberal arts college grads.

I’ve posted this on another thread, but I’ll let you know here too. While I was helping my two boys go through the worry and stress of the application process during the last two years, I found a great book. It was written by Jon Reider who was Stanford’s director of admissions for 20 years. He gives a pretty indepth explanation of what goes on behind the scenes once your application hits their desks. It was fascinating. It’s the only book I found that really gives you a better idea of the “mystery” behind those adcom’s closed doors. The book is called Admission Matters. I think it really helped my boys deal with the waiting.
