in the U.S, how long does it take for an average student to become a specialised doctor (like a surgeon) ? Not including any 'study abroad' things and not incl. gap years.
So- undergraduate school, grad school, intern, residence, anything else?
I know that undergraduate is (about) 4 years and how long are the others?

This has been covered many times. To become a Gen. Surgeon you have 4 yrs undegrad. 4 years med. 1 year intern. And the rest varies but for residency it can be anywhere from 4 years to 6 or 7+. (the extra years 6-7+ are for specializing and doing a fellowship)

thanks heaps!
