Next year i am going to be a junior which means on top of AP classes and regents I’m going to have to find time to study for the SAT, ACT, and SAT II subject tests. Can you guys let me know from experience or if your going through this also how managable this schedule is. Thank you!
AP United States History
Physics
Physics Lab/ Gym
AP English Language and Composition
Trigonometry/Algebra II
AP Human Geography
AP Psychology
Italian IV Honors
One big concern I also have is I’m not a very strong math student so I am wondering how I will do in both physics and Trig.
It should be manageable… a lot of this depends on your own proficiency in those respective subjects, like your Italian class.
As far as the AP classes go, you should be fine. AP Human Geo and AP Psych are both lite AP classes, so that shouldn’t be an issue (they may give you a lot of work, but the courses themselves aren’t hard). AP Lang shouldn’t be an issue, either. APUSH may be a lot of work - but it’s manageable.
The math classes may be concerning - but only b/c you said that you’re not a strong math student. However, it’s definitely manageable. I’d advise to NEVER let yourself get behind in math or physics - if you have an issue, go talk to your teacher or a friend for help immediately.
First of all, AP language and comp was my all time favorite class (but you’re going to need to know the difference in you’re* and your).
AP Psychology is also one of my favorites-- if the professor is good, he connects it to your life and makes you super interested, so it’s not a hard one.
AP Human Geo I also took my freshman year-- it’s known as being on of the easy ones. Pretty boring, but whatever.
My biggest piece of advice is do not take physics if you aren’t genuinely interested. Especially with being a poor math student. Physics is hard and dry and very easy to get behind in. It’s not enough to want to take it just for the “AP” title.
On that note, don’t stress yourself out with “taking enough AP classes”. I promise that’s not what colleges are looking for. Take the ones you’re interested in-- you’re more likely to excel in them. There’s always room to take a few AP’s senior year if you feel like you need to, but seriously, don’t stress. I had a 4.6 weighted GPA with 5 AP classes and I got into UNC Chapel Hill (but turned them down). Get that community service in there and job experience. Way more attractive to colleges than the classes you take in high school haha.
