I am a sophomore and looking to take at least 4 or 5 a.p classes. Is this a good number? I wanted to know because the classes i'm looking to take( US history, psychology, European history, economics, and maybe US government and politics) are classes I have a real interest is this a good idea?

If you want to take an AP class you should take all of them that your school offers. Why wouldn’t you? Do you want colleges to think your lazy? Take all or none.

^Is this supposed to be sarcasm?

No, take however many you think you can handle. If you have a genuine interest in all 5 of those AP classes, then take them, by all means. It’s not unheard of for someone to take 4+ AP classes and do well in all of them. Just don’t load up on 3 science APs if you hate science - there’s no point.

@catchinginfinity Thank you for a realistic response, I generally love history and the world around me so i think i’m going to take those classes.

Take however many you can reasonably get As in (the exam scores aren’t as important), ideally in core academic subjects.

Also you probably can’t take all your school offers. I’ve taken one of the most challenging schedules I can and there’s no way I could’ve taken all the ones my school offered. Not to mention, I didn’t have the prerequisites for all of them (Ex: I’m in French, not Spanish.) Take the ones you like, and the ones you think you can do well in. If you think you’ll hate it, don’t take it (unless that sort of class is required at your school).
