latest ive slept in my 3 years of cornell so far was at 4 am and woke up at 7 am

engineering ftl :

Wow that was kind of dumb… First off I know a large number of engineers, from ChemE’s to MechE’s to ECE’s and they all do well at avoiding all nighter’s. One of my friends said he pulls one or two each semester, always related to his procrastination.

Maybe you should revisit why you’re pulling all nighters.

I do it about once every two weeks, but that’s because I don’t like doing homework during the day, so I usually start around 2 or so…

Not one of my kids have ever stayed up all night to study. Thats not to say that they don’t wake up early to study.

I’ve done a handful, though all were my fault.

Except for that book report I forgot about until the day before. That was my Blackberry’s fault.

if you dont want to pull all nighters, dont become an architecture major ;)

but in all seriousness, its about how you manage your time. if you are procrastinating and playing a lot before you get your work done…

Nope. That was still your fault for depending on technology to remember something.

I fear the day some solar flare knocks out people’s GPS systems. How have we collectively lost so much geographic knowledge in the last 10 years? And where has that additional brain matter gone to? Watching Jersey Shore?

Freshman year: 2 total.
Sophomore year: 4-5 a semester.
Junior year: 1 a week.

let me have my moment.

I got an A on that report, however.

weirdly, since this thread began, I have heard more talk of all-nighters in class/hallways than I have all semester. perhaps it’s not so weird looking at the calendar.

do premeds tend to pull all-nighters?

The best premeds I knew didn’t pull all-nighters.

the only premeds who pull all nighters are the kids that really shouldn’t be premed because they suck at science but they stick to it because they want the money/prestige of being a doctor. Those kids suck.

why do those kids suck? the american medical system is quite elitist…

Because if you suck at science, you shouldn’t be a doctor. Plain and simple.

You don’t want people who are bad at math and physics to be building your bridges, same goes for doctors.

They’re also not very bright.

@chendrix…

from what i gather the MCAT works in the same way the SAT does in predicting aptitude to complete medical college…

there are very rigorous science classes in medical school and i think the tough classes are weed-outs for certain elite specialties such as dermatology or w/e…

the not so bright students are pushed towards primary care…

Unless you’ve been through medical school, I would hesitate to call anyone who can graduate from med school “not so bright.” There’s a huge difference between an average med student (which would be someone scoring 85% on tests at my school) and an average premed who can barely wipe their own butt.
