My family runs low on money (only 15k-20k at the most) but im an excellent student? How many reach, match, safety? And I don't mean "if I can get in", I just want to know financial-wise how many I should apply to because my mom said she is willing to let me apply to 15 schools. So just wondering. Any input?

Try your state’s flagship school(s).

Lots of schools have free online applications- look for the threads for kiss of them elsewhere on this site.

Also, don’t rule out expensive private colleges. Lots of them give out fantastic FA, oftentimes, greater than the aid you would receive at an in state public school.

I’ve heard USC gives out great aid. Also look for outside scholarships.

If you can, I would apply to around 6-7. (2 Safeties, 2-3 match, 2 reach). Fifteen different schools seems excessive (and expensive)… Just make sure you would be happy going to any of the schools you apply. If anything though, I think you should have more match schools than reaches, and get a safety just in case there’s a wild turn of events and you get rejected from your matches.

Also, what hoopster says –

A lot of colleges waive an application fee if applied online or if they send you a VIP application.

[College Navigator - National Center for Education Statistics](College Navigator - National Center for Education Statistics) go check out the school you want to go to and check the net price. They break it up by income brackets.

Whoops. Auto-correct fail. Said “kiss,” meant “lists.” Haha…
