I am a rising senior and obviously college is an increasing concern. With that being said i was wondering with the cost of applications being pretty high, how many colleges are you all applying too? And how much are you guys willing to spend in the fees? Just thought it was an interesting topic

I think 9 when it’s all set and done

Most students apply to 1-2 safety school. 3-5 schools in your academic ability and 1-2 reach schools. Also most schools will probably be around $65 in application fees but some schools will waive the fee if applying online and that is something to think about.

My oldest did three. Middle did six. Youngest will likely have between three and six.

I’m for sure applying to at least 7-9, but definitely a couple more if I don’t get accepted to either of my top 2 choices EA/ED.

Thanks guys, yeah i know i just hate spending all that money to maybe get rejected, I’m trying to narrow it down to between 5-7 schools i think

I applied to three schools and only got into one of them. Guess which one I got into.

I’m also a rising senior and I’m applying to 4 schools!

I live in Virginia, so three instate and one down in Carolina. I’m not as worried about the application fees as I am about the tuition and financial aid.

At first I was looking at 8-9 schools, but I started to narrow them down and decided which ones I would actually go to if I got in. There’s no point in applying to schools where you have no interest in attending. That being said, 4 schools seemed much more reasonable for me. Now I can focus on giving each application the time and attention it deserves.

Good luck with all your applications and may the odds be ever in your favor! :)

DS1 applied to 3. DS2 will apply to 3 or 4. If you love your safeties, you only need to apply to a couple. Just be realistic about where you can get in. Naviance is a big help if your school has it.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed and intimidated by the many overachievers on this board. No need to apply to lots and lots of schools if you choose them carefully and know you can be admitted, afford them, and be happy there.

I only ever applied to 4 because I got into my top choice before I finished 2 others. But otherwise I would have had 6.
