if my school offers 27 AP courses, is it okay that i will only take 12-13

just saying, i planned out which 12 so it would be a balanced work load…

How many is it possible to take? For example, my school offers around 20-25 APs, but the maximum possible is 13 (not including college courses, such as higher-level math). However, nobody takes all 12–most high achievers take around 9-10, max 11. In order to take 13, you’d have to take AP Chinese and AP Stats in 10th grade (meaning you have to take Honors Precalc in 10th grade as well; the number of people qualified for both AP Chinese and Honors Precalc is around 30, and not all decide to take Stats–they may be in band, or they may choose to take Anatomy or Engineering). This is to make space for higher-level courses, such as Finite/Discrete and Multivar, or for courses like Journalism (our school newspaper is one of the most highly-regarded in the area; it’s very hard to get into and it looks even better than an AP on college applications).

It all depends on the context of the situation.

I recommend no more than 7-8, and that means with only a few senior year. Get As and 5s and you’re good to go. If you’re one of those rare kids who just finds non-AP courses mind-numbingly boring, then by all means take 15 but don’t expect you’ll be any better off than those who take 8. Diminishing returns, OP.

taking chineseAP out of school(i dont think it can be for credit though), believe me, i was qualified in the 8th grade. thousands of painful hours that i did chinese school hw.
and it seems i am also qualified for honors pre-calc
i am not in school orchestra
i sadly have to take 5 arts credits for something.
this is how: some are art courses, lol
freshman:eng, alg2,chem(not AP just to clarify), chinese 5, APUSH, studio art I, gym
sophmore: eng, pre caulc, AP bio(double pd/credit), AP NSL, AP studio drawing, programming
junior: AP lit,AP calc, (normal) physics, AP world, AP studio 2d design or drawing (can be repeated for credit), AP econ(macro/micro)(one more credit i can fill in, maybe ill have to take art)
senior:AP comp.,AP stat, AP euro, painting(not AP), AP psych (fill in other 2 w/ stuffs)

just a note, in my school, you take calc then stat

@jkeil911 yeah, lol seen that.i also based this off of older sis. she took multiple APs too (same as me other than art and chinese) the only thing she did poorly on was AP chem, drastically. thats y i will never take AP chem.

of course i always love to see failure. its always interesting in non-math subjects! (gosh math, gahhh…i wish they would stop making new teaching devices an let us take notes.) though i agree, it is a big risk

Do you like art?

@SlackerMomMD yes, i love art. sry, i wasnt very clear. i need do take 4 years of visual art and then another year of another; i’ll probably take journalism. Dont get me wrong, i enjoy writing, i just think i’ll probably be put in the class with sophmores and freshmen who are taking the course only for credit. Although some of them write proficiently, the vast majority require improvement. My school is more STEM oriented, or at least stronger in mathematics. We sadly have some terrifying writers. If i did have complaint with art class, it would be that the course is not very challenging. Although that may just be american school art courses in general. They arent very big on teaching a lot of technique/ enforcing it(which i think is important to student artists). A lot of kids (including AP kids) just ignore the assignment because the teacher doesnt do much teaching. It’s pretty much a video and a ppt. I really wish they would just teach us more and maybe stop combining the classes so we can have a more engaging art class.
