Alright, so i am a sophomore and i am trying to pick some courses for next year.
These I am definitely taking:
Analysis and Differential Calculus Honors
AP United States History
AP Physics
Phys Ed 11(mandatory)
Religion 11(mandatory)
I am undecided on this:
AP Language and Composition or American Lit Honors(which one should i take?)
Then I am picking 2 of these 3 electives:
AP Statistics
AP Chemistry
Spanish 4 Honors
I am not much of a writer(not a fast writer) and i have heard AP Lang has a TON of writing, so i am tentative about applying for it. I am leaning towards Lit Honors because i really dont want an AP english class to pull my GPA down(3.9 ish) and i am more of a math and science guy. Can someone please provide input on the AP classes(how hard, homework,ap test)? And for the electives, many of my classmates and my Spanish teacher are saying that taking a language throughout high school is really impressive to colleges, but wouldnt 2 APS instead of 1 and Spanish Honors be more impressive? My school doesnt offer AP Spanish until senior year, and although im good at it, i dont really like Spanish. I have also heard that AP Chem is REALLY hard and there were quite a few juniors(smart ones too) who have failed the class. I am extremely nervous about it. I am taking Chem Honors this year but my teacher really sucks. But i really like Chem, so i dont know what to do. I have heard AP Stat is easy and im probably going to take that no matter what. I am good with formulas so i should be fine for physics and i can do well in APUSH because there is a lot of memorization involved.Any input would be greatly appreciated and sorry if it was hard to follow im kind of tired now.

Id say take AP Lang and Comp. Its really not as bad as it sounds; however I don’t know your teacher and that can be a huge factor. As for Spanish… my opinion is that you take regular spanish. Yes, you are pretty good at it, but you are already ahead if you are taking spanish 4 in your junior year. My friend and I decided to take regular spanish junior year because we would be so loaded down with AP classes. My friend’s mother speaks spanish in their home so my friend has a pretty good grasp of the language as it is… but after talking to our advisor she realized that honors vs. regular didn’t really matter. Taking 4 years of a language is just that, especially considering many colleges don’t even require 4 years.

I second AP Lang and comp, liked it much better than lit. I don’t think chem is a good idea if your concerned about your gpa, it’s kinda hard. If you do your homework stat will be a breeze, and likewise for spanish 4.

If you like chem and math, AP Chem would be good to get out of the way. It is worlds above in difficulty and workload, usually, than the other two however.

AP Lang, AP Stats, and AP Chem. Currently taking them all and love them all equally.

APUSH and AP Lang have a lot of writing to do. The maximum work load vary from person to person. Also, you may want to pick the classes related to your intended major. Remember, you are likely to take some subject tests at the end of Junior too. For more competitive schools, you need 2 or sometimes 3 SAT2. The best time to take SAT2 is usually right after you finish the AP classes of the same subject. Moreover, Junior is the most important year for GPA. You need to keep up your GPA while taking more rigorous courses.
