How many APs should I take?

Hi everyone. I'll be a junior next year, and I'm wondering which AP classes I should take. As the number one ranked student of about 550 students, I am motivated to challenge myself with the rigors of AP classes. That said, I'm thinking about taking 4 APs, 2 Honors classes, and gym (a mandatory elective). The proposed schedule goes as follows:

-AP Bio
-AP Calc AB
-AP English Language
-AP US History
-Honors Physics
-Honors French 4
-PE

At first, I was thinking that this schedule would be sufficient. It wasn't until I heard from someone that you could skip taking Honors Physics to take AP Physics, especially if you are taking Calculus since AP Physics is Calculus-based. After hearing this, I wanted to switch Honors Physics to AP Physics, while in the process switching my French class to AP Statistics due to conflicting scheduling periods.

To summarize, do you think that taking 6 APs over 4 would be too rigorous for someone who has never taken an AP class before junior year?

if i were you i wouldnt skip honors physics… even though it is possible… honors physics sets the bottom for ap physics… so it might be harder then it has to be…

but good luck :)

Just be mindful to not sacrifice interest for the sake of course rigor.

I suggest you pace yourself with APs, since its your first year taking them. You’ll immediately notice that the work load of an AP class is dramatically harder than that of an honors/regular class. You don’t want to take a lot of AP classes in the beginning and do badly in them.

Just my two cents.

only take the ap exams that actually get you credit in college. Its kind of pointless to take ap exams that your future college doesn’t accept. I highly recommend reading this guide, will saves you lots of time and money:
