Should I take 4 AP classes and 4 honors classes during my junior year?

Hello, everyone.

My school recently handed out our course selection papers that must be turned in by Monday and I’m having trouble determining what classes I want to take. I’ve taken 0 AP classes so far , but I’ve taken 9 honors courses. On one hand, I don’t want to overwork myself, but on the other hand I don’t want to be lazy and regret my decisions later on. I’m doing well in all of my honors classes (getting all A’s), so the honors courses aren’t a problem for me, I think (Although I am scared that I will be wrong later on). Below is a list of all the classes I want to take, rated on a scale of 1-10 based on how excited I am to take them.

AP Physics (10)
AP Statistics (5)
AP Chemistry (6.5)
AP Computer Science Principals (5)
Honors Spanish 4 (7)
Honors Pre-Calculus (Required)
Honors English 11 (Required)
Honors Principals of Engineering (6.5)

I won’t be taking these courses everyday. My county operates on an A/B day schedule, so I’ll have 4 classes a day with an hour long break in between. I’d appreciate any advice on what I should do. I want to become an astrophysicist or some type of scientist when I get older, so I want to take courses that will help me with that in the future.

Thank you for reading!

How are you doing on history credits. I don’t see a history/social studies class. Assuming you have two - 1 freshman year, 1 sophomore year - and only need two for graduation - just be aware that many colleges look for 3 and top colleges may want 4.

If that is the case I would drop AP Stats or AP Computer Science principals and take honors history (you can take AP but I’m guessing it isn’t of high interest). Otherwise it sounds good. I don’t know if you have any say on which classes are A days vs B days but if so I would guess trying to do 2AP and 2 honors a day would be nice.

Agree that there should be a social studies/history class in there. I’d put AP Stats and one of the sciences on the list to drop.

What sciences have you take to date, and is this AP Physics 1 or AP Physics C? I would not recommend taking Physics C and AP Chem in the same year. Both are intense classes and (should) have associated labs that can become a challenge to balance in terms of schedule.

AP CSP and AP Stats aren’t known to be difficult - those two plus one AP science should be fine for someone with a background in Honors courses.

Balancing the course difficulty and your interest level, my initial suggestion would be to swap an Honors US/World History, Government, etc. class for AP Chem. Even AP World History if available, though not AP US History.
