11 over the whole school year, tests im not sure yet......
bio, chem, physics, eng lang, eng lit, calc ab, calc bc, world, us, euro, us govt

wow i feel like a slacker...
3 this year (eng. lang., physics b, and us history)
and 3 for next year (senior year) eng lit, gov, and pysch....

man sk33 your first post and it has proliferated into one of the hottest topics ever
what a beast

i'm taking 5 this year: bio, phys c mech, phys c e&m, calc bc, and euro history

7 this year; 13 total

wow my school is a total piece and doesnt even offer as many APs as all of you are taking, and at that they have a messed up pre-req system which makes it impossible to take all but a few outside of senior year. complete ridiculousness

im just taking apush this year (junior). next year im taking 5 ap classes, 6 tests (both english tests), so 7 overall. :/

There's a difference between getting AP National scholar and 20+ APs. Really. I'm reaching for that goal too, as it is one of the benchmarks I have set for my life. My testing schedule is:

1 AP freshman, 3 APs sophomore, and 4 APs junior. See, no hassle at all. Half of these are independent studies because my school doesn't offer many APs, and I'll be going to the neighboring school to take these. I would kill myself if I had to do 6 to 7 hours of homework, but that is your lifestyle. In some way I am admired by your dedication to learning, but I know I couldn't carry out such an existence.

Calculus BC, Physics B, and Biology for me.

I dislike how you assume those of us who take lots of APs study 6-7 hours a day.

I missed 51 days of school during the second trimester of this school year and did no work whatsoever during that time. Obviously, that wasn't doing 6-7 hours of homework a night. I now do 6-7 hours of homework a night because I realized how fun it is to actually learn as much as I know I can instead of just coasting through my AP classes and getting 5's. By this, I mean I learn more than I need to know.

And I don't take so many APs to impress colleges, I take them because I like to learn. I'm sure that seems impossible to everyone who takes 4 APs and acts as though they're crucifying themself, but it's true.

And don't say I'm sacrificing my social life. For two and a half years of high school, I've done (almost) all my homework during class and refused to study for tests. If I chose to, I could have an excellent social life.

Some high school students take college courses, too (which I'm doing). I think you should consider that much more difficult than the AP pseudo-college-courses.

And my dedication to learning does not admire you, gryffon.

And sorry if the bold is annoying, lol.

GOOD GOD YOU PEOPLE ARE INSANE!!!!!!!!

I am taking only one AP this year (junior) and that is AP physics B. I was only allowed to take one; (I could've done US history instead but I couldn't do both) My school offers hardley any APs. I am taking the AP Lit exam, but my school doesn't offer AP Lit.

I can't help myself.

-snicker-

i feel so stupid
2 last year - euro calc AB
6 this year (junior) - calc BC physics B physics C (Mech) statistics govt + pol (US) human geography

you missed 51 days and there were no consequences or decrease in grades or anything? what exactly happened?- i miss one day and im back 3 hours of hw at least

2 last yr - bio, ush
5 this yr - stats, macro/micro, eng lang, chem

if only i didn't slack off in middle school and if i had taken intro comp rather than business law (agreed by many to be the worst class at our school), i probably could've taken calc BC and compsci

sk33 - i honestly do applaud you, and hell, if you can manage with 3 hours of sleep and have a ballin' social life whilst you take 20 APs, thats great for you man... but you are wrong about one thing

AP's are NOT the best way to learn

if you were in it for solely the learning you wouldnt let yourself get defined or limited by a curriculum. Your public library can teach you about 100 times more than than AP class can in the same amount of time if you tried. you ever seen good will hunting? theres this one scene where this genius who never went to college is talkin to a harvard grad student and is like, "you're just gonna be ****ed cuz youll realize you spent 150 grand on an education you coulve gotten for $1.50 in late charges at the public library."

im just saying that AP classes are NOT the best way to learn *... pick up a book, read about nietsche (sp?) or Kant or Mills or nething else you want, but dont say that you take APs cuz they are the best way to learn becuase they are not and school is not the best way to learn.. theres nothing you can learn from school you cant learn on your own (other than social *)

Agreed. That is why I take APs only as a byproduct of my independent studies, which explains why I'm only studying for 2 of them.

..this thread totally epitomizes the essence of CC.

And, just so you guys know, I took a grand total of 2 APs my junior year and 3 this year. Yes, my school offers many more than that, and yes, I got into 7 of my 8 schools regardless, including Wellesley, UNC-CH, etc., and many with some super nice merit scholarship offers.

So chill out if you're worried by this thread. You should be laughing instead at the boy who spends 7 hours a night doing homework ;)
