How many colleges did you apply to in Early decision?

I just wanted to ask…which colleges you applied to in the early decision process and why did you choose that college…and also if you could share the result then it will be great!

Each student may only apply ED to ONE school. Or are you counting unrestricted early action and applying early via rolling admissions?

The OP tagged four schools:

Yale: EA (restricted, no ED anywhere, no EA to other private schools)
Princeton: EA (restricted, no ED anywhere, no EA to other private schools)
Cornell: ED (binding, must attend if admitted and affordable)
MIT: EA

So the only possible combination of more than one early application among these four schools is Cornell ED and MIT EA.

And the title asks how many ED schools to apply to (answer- ONE) but the post asked which schools and why. The OP should identify, if they plan to apply ED somewhere, which school is right for them, and if it is affordable.

You can only apply to one at a time - one for ED1 and then (if rejected or aid package insufficient)one to ED2, if available.

I applied to Brown ED (deferred and accepted RD) and am currently a First-Year. I chose Brown because of the flexibility the Open Curriculum offered (my high school
was super laissez-faire when it came to course scheduling) and I wanted the same freedom in college (it also helps to know that most classes you are paying for are ones you WANT to take, rather than HAVING to take them.) Brown also has a collaborative atmosphere, strong pre-med advising, no curves or +/- grading, and small class sizes so I felt it would be a good fit for me after attending a large public school.

If a school offering ED is your top choice, I highly, highly recommend applying ED, but only if ALL of the following are true:

  1. You LOVE your ED school and would 110% attend if admitted.
  2. You're confident you can present a well thought out and crafted application by the ED deadline, which is typically November 1st.
  3. You and your family can afford your ED school if admitted (run the financial aid calculators if applicable.)
