How many colleges recalculate GPA?

I know for instance that Stanford and Princeton disregard freshman year, but I've also heard that many colleges recalculate your gpa based on different point systems (i.e. A=93-100 vs. 90-100) or disregard gym classes and other such things, how true do you think this is? I'm asking because the point system at my school allows for very very few 4.0's for people that would otherwise have them with different pointage.

I don't think many colleges change the point system- I know that if I did apply to a college that did that, they wouldn't get very far because grades are reported as "A-B-C-D-F" as opposed to percentages. So they couldn't really recalculate my GPA like that.

Many, if not all, top colleges do disregard gym classes and anything outside the general expectations of your high school education (e.g. English, social studies, science, math, foreign language) for GPA purposes. UMich, for example, does this.

By the way, I apologize for yet another gpa thread on this forum, I just noticed the others and they're kinda similar, but not quite.
