but how many of those 10 or whatever should be safety, match, low reach, high reach..
and if you dont know what that means here is a sort of definition for those terms haha

safety - can be certain applicant will be admitted
match - applicant's statistics are in the range of a particular college and has a solid chance of being admitted
low reach - applicant's statistics are just below a college's general range and may be admitted
high reach - applicant's statistics are far below a college's general range and has a low chance of being admitted

It depends. For applicants to top schools, a carefully crafted list of 8-12 schools seems to be enough. Some will apply to far fewer, some to many more (though how many applications one can handle without a decrease in quality will vary).

Virtually all top schools will be reaches by virtue of their selectivity. Personally, I think the best option for top applicants is an EA or SCEA program that will (ideally) secure them a spot at a match or reach school early. Translation: No pesky safety school apps.

I would say two safety schools (safety schools don’t have to be bad, UVA is one example). I had about 4/5 matches and perhaps 3/4 reaches, I didn’t really differentiate between low/high. Just my opinion.

haha is that a jokee? UVA would be my reach school!
but then again maybe its not so much of a reach for you idk if you live in VA but i live out of state so its alot harder for me to get in.

I live in Virginia, and UVA usually accepts 200+ kids from my school, and according to naviance 100% of kids with my GPA make it in, so I would qualify it as a safety. Whatever state you live in there is probably at least one good school.

what gpa do you have? jw.
i looked at their website and since they are a state school they have to accept 82% or something students that are VA residence…
but OMG. i am so jealous of you!

I have a 3.93 UW and 4.37 Weighted. All honors classes except 8 AP classes and 7 post-APs, so it’s a pretty heavy courseload. My school is also fairly prestigious (#1 in US news and world report for 3 years running).
