I am on my way to choose courses and I really want to get straight As with courses I choose, but I still want to make new friends.
How many hours do you think freshman should spend on learning? I am at college of Engineering, btw.

Which engineering discipline are you choosing? I’m A&S but as an ees/bio major I had to take a lot of the same courses as the engineers my freshman year (all the intro to lab sciences, multiv, etc). How’d HS go for you? I took 14 credits freshman year because I wanted to focus on meeting people/being social; only you know how much is too much, but as a decently bright HS student I found the 14 way too few and have taken 17/18 every semester since, and it still hasn’t been anywhere near overwhelming or stressful (orgo 1st semester gave me a bit of trouble, but I made a minor adjustment to my studying strategy and pulled an A in Orgo 2. Otherwise my classes have all been breezy and beautiful, though I still don’t understand certain parts of the theory behind optical microscopy).

I have friends (seniors and juniors) who are running a 4.0/high 3.9 having taken 18 credits every semester they’re here, and others who struggle with a 15 credit courseload. Only you can prevent forest fires.
