<p>I think it depends heavily on where you are in your studies as well. I’ve noticed a definite increase in study hour density per course as I go upward. Right now I average ~7 hours of hw+reading per class per week. It used to be ~5 hr/class/wk last year, and before that ~3hr/class/wk. Extrapolating I can easily see spending on average ~9 hours/class/week for senior year, especially with the year long capstone course.</p>
<p>This is highly dependent on how efficiently you study. The same student who studies with their phone on airplane mode, Facebook, email and music off will get FAR more done in a timed 45 minute study slot than a student distracted by all of modernity’s gadgets.</p>
