How many hours do you put during summer to study for the SAT?

So I've ultimately decided to not take one of those $6k SAT prep classes and instead chose to self-study. How many hours should I put into studying to achieve a 2200+ score? My score is around the 1900-2000 range.

I would say quality over quantity is more important but I know that’s not the answer you were looking for. I would do a practice section of either M, CR, or W and review my answers, which should take you 30-45 minutes a day, for 5 days a week. And don’t forget to periodically take full practice tests every Saturday and (once again) review your answers, which should take you ~4 hours. Take Sundays off if you want to. You could also intensify your studying a few weeks before the test date and bump it up to 2 or 3 practice sections a day.

Really depends…if you’re consistently scoring, say, 800’s on any one section, you probably don’t need preparation in that section.

At the very least, if you’re taking the October or November SAT, I would at least learn some vocab/strategies before practicing. You can take a practice W/CR/M section whenever you wish, and perhaps one or two full SAT’s before your actual testing date. Don’t stress about the SAT too much, but don’t take it too lightly either.

S2 did about 1 hour/day last summer and occasionally spent 3 hours on a practice test. (Our rule was on weekends no studying though.)

He did only study or practice for 1 section a day (usually focused on 1 per week).

Took first week after school was out off and once sports started (mid august only worked on weekends).
