<p>How many more fees will be added? I'm trying to figure out how much in loans I'll have to take out. I know I will have to enroll in insurance, which is $1514 (Per year or semester? I don't know. Also, will I be billed half each semester or all at once?). So that's $2,000 first semester, and then $500 again next semester, plus $1,000 per books (for the whole year?) and I'm thinking perhaps $3,500 in loans? Or...$5,000 in loans if the insurance is $1514 a SEMESTER. I don't know.</p>
<p>Either way - are there any other fees? Anything else I need to take out loan money for? Should I just aim for $3,500 in loans? I'll have work-study as well, I'm approved for around $2,500 of that. I'll probably just use it to pay off my loans early or something. </p>

<p>I would let FA know that you will need student insurance to see if they could up your aid. $1514 is per year.
Do you plan on pledging a fraternity? If so, there will be a fee in Spring. What about spending money($200/mon), transportation home, hockey season ticket (my D hit me up for that, charged to her acct).</p>

<p>Check with FA for your health insurance before you pay out of pocket. $10,000 for Cornell education is a bargain. You should be able to make $3500 from your summer job(s).</p>

<p>Not necessarily true. My FA package for my first year was very generous and I was left with minimal debt. It was the remaining 2 years that killed me.</p>
<p>Don't know about Cornell, but some schools have IT administration fees to cover wiring & support for computers, or for wireless. Other fees besides the "general" fee may be:</p>
<p>"Service" Fee (no idea)
Transportation (so you get "free" shuttle bus)
Energy Technologies Fee
Cultural Programming Fee
Environmental Fee</p>
<p>etc. These latter were all small but they add up.</p>
<p>Ithaca, depressed? There are plenty of summer jobs there, you just have to know where to look. If you can, look in Binghamton and Elmira as well for summer jobs.</p>
<p>I work at CFCU and a lot of people seem to be out of jobs. The jobs that are available are summer jobs such as cell phone places, supermarkets, etc.</p>
<p>I don't live in Ithaca. I live in a very rural area with no big cities nearby. We don't even have a gas station or fast flood place here - the nearest place for things like that is like 30 minutes away. With gas at this price, it'd be almost pointless to work if I have to drive that far - and even then there are no jobs there.</p>

security deposit for next year's housing if you move off campus (usually around 500 dollars)
money for concerts, dinner out in collegetown, transportation for breaks etc.
