A plurality of us have earned Top Grades (magnum cum laude or better), but how many of us have made the jump from being Top Students into Top Jobs? You know, the ones with rigorous GPA cutoffs, no IQ cutoffs, catty HR departments, and salaries upto and including $100k starting?

Probably nobody with enough time or inclination to post in “college life” ?

Are you implying that people who post on message boards have no lives?

Must you make everything into an argument? I agree with Emanheevul07. “Top jobs” are usually time consuming, so if they do have the time to kick back and post on message boards it won’t be on one about college kids and their problems.

Actually, most Top Engineering Jobs only make you work 40 hours a week on your own schedule. Didn’t you know that?

No, I didn’t know that. Is that something you estimated or is there data to support it. Engineering isn’t the only top career. Many business-related fields like marketing, advertising, PR, etc. involve long, LONG hours, especially if they’re project-based.

Those fields don’t even exist unless you went to a Top School or want to make $7 an hour before taxes.

I think a lot of us posting in the College Life forums are still in college. Therefore, it logically follows that not a lot of us have Top Jobs, since we have not yet graduated into the real world.

“Probably nobody with enough time or inclination to post in “college life” ?”

I’m sure you’ve seen Bearcats on the UMich forums…

“Actually, most Top Engineering Jobs only make you work 40 hours a week on your own schedule. Didn’t you know that?”

I’ve heard more like 50-60/week is more typical really. Though I’m sure this is completely dependent on what you’re doing.

“I’m sure you’ve seen Bearcats on the UMich forums…”

That’s umich forums, not college life. I think we can all agree bearcats isn’t quite typical. :P

But the business students always made fun of the engineering students. They would say, “Why do you study so hard when you could get a business degree and make more money?” I would think there a many high paying engineering jobs, many in the government, where they won’t allow you to work OT. There are also many engineers who work for themselves and work long hours.
Besides, why are you looking for rich people?

“That’s umich forums, not college life.”

Fair enough.

“But the business students always made fun of the engineering students.”

I think engineering is far better at guaranteeing at least a decent job, even if you’re not the best. Most business students do not make it into investment banking.

Most business students have GPAs over 3.5 though, which gives them a huge advantage.

I’m america’s next top model up in this muhh

Probably nobody with enough time or inclination to post in “college life” ?

I Agree
