How many of you use Tobacco products?

rmadden, you're like an evangelical preacher trying to preach to atheists. you'll keep talking, and they'll keep laughing and brushing it off because theres no evidence. i believe most things in life are good in moderation...as it has been said in this thread many times. cookies can essentially kill you through obesity in the same way that cigs can kill you through lung cancer. ask an obese person why they have to eat 2 of something when 1 is enough. people have ways of coping with their feelings and smoking is 1 of them. chill, people know the risks. they arent ignorant, but you are if you keep judging people based on smoking. besides, with cancer victims how many of those people led healthy lifestyles elsewhere? blaming everything on the cigs themselves is unfair. btw, im not a smoker.

i don't understand the point of smoking tobacco. i really don't care what people want to do to their bodies as long as it doesn't affect me. i'd have to look at the short term and long term consequences of a drug before deciding to use it and how easy it is to get addicted to it. sometimes the risk is not worth it. i don't even take any medication because of side effects. i look for alternatives or let nature take its course. if i got cancer, i'd rather die peacefully than take a chance with chemo. lolz

I occasionally do chewing tobacco mostly because it gives you a nice head buzz

Who are you, Gary Sheffield?

This thread is full of fail.

meh it's a free country, he has as much right to lol @ smokers as smokers have to smoke. Also your last sentence is an epic fail because almost no one lives a healthy lifestyle these days.

Agreed, as with most threads in the High School Life forum.

I feel the same way. If someone wants to inhale whatever, I don't care as long as I'm not affected.
However, I have asthma so it can affect me every once in awhile. When I studied in Beijing, it seemed like everybody and their grandmother smoked and I was blessed with asthma attacks left and right.
Though to be fair, their wonderful air quality could have lent to that as well.

OKay, first of all, you claim that we were searching around the internet for information, which we got. Then you went around yourself and found some to contradict us with a study that is not even about smoking! You are a hypocrit in that you are bringing up evidence that makes no sense!

So they don't mind dying? They are not stupid, but suicidal?

I doubt that eating too much pizza, which is unhealthy, would lead to cancer of the throat, mouth, and esspecially lungs.

. :) .

^^you can killed driving a car, but will that stop you from ever riding a car again? If you smoke once in a while nothings going to happen. A lot of the people who get lung cancer are the people who smoke a pack or more a day. Btw i dont smoke because i think its disgusting, but smoking like 2 a week isnt that bad. As for the question i dont use tobacco products. I dont know that much people who smoke but i know A LOT who use dip. They say they use it because it kind of feels like being drunk

Playing sports is 'dangerous'.

Only if you're sh1tty at them, lulz.

The arguments from both sides here are pathetic.

I don't really see how there can be an argument. Countless studies and scientists have proven that smoking is extremely hazardous to your health. There's no surgeon general's warning on cars or soccer balls. You can still market those to youth. Cigarettes are extremely, extremely addictive, and dangerous not only to smokers but to those around them.

And that's really all there is to it. I don't understand how anybody could argue with fifty years of heaping evidence.

"I doubt that eating too much pizza, which is unhealthy, would lead to cancer of the throat, mouth, and esspecially lungs."

obviously that's not what they were saying. and if you can't see that I pity you.

southeast, why must I repeat myself so much? no one is arguing smoking isn't bad for you. We're arguing everyone needs to mind their own buisness and let people make decisions for themselves.

I found it...interesting... that the Google ads on this page say "Pictures of Mouth cancer" and "Throat cancer."

i stay away from tobacco, alcohol, and drugs all unnecessary harmful stuff...I'm a Pepsi addict though

^that's just as bad.

No tobacco. Or alcohol. Or drugs. Or soda, really. Or coffee. I hate it.

^win .

^ I like you already. Now if only I had the option of going to school with you...:p We'll see in April, I guess.

Smoking isn't dangerous in moderation. Riding a motorcycle is 'dangerous'. Playing sports is 'dangerous'. So, what? Its personal choice. If you have a problem with it, the don't do it!

Yeah, you pretty much compared smoking to playing sports. So. Nice.

no i didn't because i didn't say the second one...
