@Gumbymom how do u know it means waitlist?
@RahulJoshi002 what were your stats? And if you check mycpp you can see it says waitlist
@icurryx3 oh ok, I found where it says waitlist.
I have a 3.89 Weighted and a 32 ACT - Applied for Computer Science
@RahulJoshi002 wow and still waitlisted… Where do you plan to go? Where else were you accepted?
@icurryx3 yeah lol, I’m probably going to SIR at UC Santa Cruz.
Can someone explain this to me:
By the end of May, we will determine if space is available in our Fall 2017 class. If spaces remain unfilled, students who have notified us of their intent to remain on the Waitlist will be reconsidered for admission at the beginning of June. If you are offered admission at that time, we will promptly notify you of your financial aid eligibility, and the availability of housing prior to requiring you to make a commitment to attend.
It says in the end “…REQUIRING you to make a commitment to attend” – does this mean if you get off the waitlist you HAVE to attend?
@RahulJoshi002: No if you opt into the waitlist and get accepted, it is not binding. You can choose to enroll or not.
I don’t get how waitlist works tbh
@xdlamb: You opt into the waitlist for CPP. You then need to SIR to another school by May 1 and pay your enrollment deposit. If any spots open up at CPP, you will then be contacted if you want to accept the spot at CPP or not. If you do accept CPP, you decline your enrollment at the other school, loose your original deposit and SIR to CPP.
So if a student is admitted off the waitlist, then there is no guarantee there would be dorm availability? How would this work for those freshman student required to live on campus?
How do you decline your enrollment??
I’m also at “Pending student response.” – @Gumbymom how do u know it means waitlist?
@RahulJoshi002: As stated above by ^^^ @icurryx3 you check mycpp you can see it says waitlist.
@SFKnittingMom: If accepted off the waitlist, CPP will let you know if housing is available since there is no guarantee after the housing application closes. It is up to you to decide if you want to accept based on the availability of housing. Some schools do guarantee housing will be available for waitlisted applicants if accepted, but many Cal States do not.
Thank you @icurryx3 and @Gumbymom for the extremely helpful information. Also, I’ve been looking at the BroncoDirect site, not the MyCPP site, until now. My status still shows “Pending Admissions Decision” [No Action Required] since “2/7/2017”. Much more helpful information. Thanks again for all the explanations and the tips.
Thank you for this information. So it seems that even if my son could get admitted as a freshman off the waitlist, there is no guarantee of housing…even though non-local freshman are required to live on campus. Sigh…
